From the Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum in Chicago, IL, Mecum is selling 275 vehicles and over 1,000 pieces of road art and memorabilia today through Sunday.

The museum closed forever on September 14, and this weekend will be the chance for collectors to get a piece from the collection — all at no reserve.

One major highlight of the collection is The Golden Sahara II, built by Jim Street as a revision to the original Golden Sahara built by George Barris. Larry took possession of the car in 2018 and commissioned Speakeasy Classics and Customs to restore the car in its current state, according the auction copy. It’s Lot S198, which means it’ll cross the block Saturday evening.

While there are some truly wild rides in this collection including several bubble tops, one that stands out to me is Lot S275, a 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II with Honduras Mahogany boattail skiff bodywork. The catalog says an estimated 3,000 hours went into crafting the body. However close that is to the truth I’ll never know, but the work presented seems pretty special. You’d have the only one around, too.

Catch the auction action on Mecum’s YouTube channel or on ESPN+ today through Sunday.
