Mecum Auctions rolls into the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area starting Wednesday, October 29, and running through Saturday, November 1. They take over the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX, with the promotional material touting 1,500 vehicles.
My experience tells me it’ll be somewhere closer to 1,000 or 1,200 and road art pieces will take the total lots up to or around 1,500. However it works out, that is still a lot of cars to run across the block in four days.
In typical Texas fashion, Mecum is bringing the trucks and muscle cars. Even a Volvo semi is among the star lots, and that comes with a Smart Fortwo and 48-foot trailer. Plenty of late-powered C10s, Camaros, Mustangs, Demons and one Hemi-powered Willys pickup are available, many at no reserve, to compliment the usual selection of carbureted iron. Of course, late-model luxury will be there too — gotta have that filler to get over 1,000 cars. It is also easier to make the trip back and forth to the grocery store in model-year 2010-and-later than in a LS6 Chevelle. Plus, some of those do sell for a song, especially early in the day.
As usual, if you’re not there in person but want to watch, they’re streaming on ESPN and YouTube.
They’ll follow this sale with another one from November 13–15 in Las Vegas.
