Need a scary sight on Halloween in Las Vegas? Just being there would do it for me, but I do view Las Vegas as my personal hell (even if SEMA is a blast).
For those that do enjoy that sort of environment, there’s a concours and a sale coming up on October 31. From the Broad Arrow Auction’s press release, “A celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation, Concours at Wynn Las Vegas brings car enthusiasts from around the world to revel in automotive excellence against the dynamic backdrop of the Las Vegas Strip. Broad Arrow Auctions is pleased to announce its first auction in Las Vegas during the Concours’ fourth-annual gathering with an auction encompassing more than 65 exceptional collector cars across a wide variety of genres, marques, and price points.”
I counted 68 cars on the run list with three withdrawals. Two cars come in with estimates over $1m, a 2010 Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 coupe at $1.5m–$1.8m and a 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster at $1.45m–$1.6m. Although my eyes go to the 1953 Hansen Cobra Motorama Show Car, out of the Petersen Museum with a $150k–$200k estimate, as this is probably the first one I’ve seen. The Hansen Brothers made only three of them, so that tracks.
Looking at the other end of the valuation spectrum, the two lowest estimated lots are a 1968 Austin Mini Cooper S Mk II and a 1973 Ford Mustang convertible, both at $30k–$40k.
It’s a good thing, too, that Hagerty’s auction operations are big. The very next day, Broad Arrow is a fifth across the world hosting a sale in Zürich, CHI.
