On November 1, Hagerty’s Broad Arrow Auction group is in Switzerland to host its inaugural Zürich sale.
They’re certainly broadening their reach, venturing to Europe this year with sales at Villa d’Este and Zoute. Both of those had to be considered successes, beyond the usual PR hyperbole.
Their newsletter popped in my inbox titled, “The Precision of Swiss Motoring.” And by the fourth bullet point, they’re already into the “favorable tax conditions for classic cars.”
Oh well, every little scrap saved helps, I suppose.
Anyways, on to the highlights: The top two estimated lots are Lot 130 and 149, a Jaguar D-type and Bugatti Chiron, respectively. The Jag is a 1956 with an estimated range coming in at CHF 5.25m to CHF 6.25m or $6.6m–$7.9m. The Bugatti is a 2020 Chiron Sport with an estimate of CHF 2.9m–CHF 3.2m or $3.6m–$4m.
Nearly every great European make is present, with most of the popular models hitting their marks on the run list. It goes all the way down to a 1970 Daimler DS420 Vanden Plas limousine for those not looking to spend seven figures this weekend.
Past performance is not indicative of future results, but it would be a to shock observers if the next newsletter wasn’t trumpeting these results.
Reminder: This sale comes one day after Broad Arrow’s auction at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas.
You can catch the auction on their YouTube channel.
